The German Waste Catalogue Ordinance came into force on January 1st 2002.
It implements various European decisions (Commission 2000/532/EC dated May 3rd 2000; Commission 2001/118/EC dated January 16th 2001; 2001/119/EC dated January 22nd 2001, Council 2001/573/EC dated July 23rd 2001).

In order to simplify and coordinate the application of the Waste Catalogue Ordinance in the German waste management the Federal Ministry for the Environment worked out guidelines, which can be found in this PDF document.
