Conference on Agriculture 2026
13.01.2026 | Economy | Conference / ConventionEconomically viable farms, liveable environment – requirements for agricultural policy in transformation
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will be the theme of the Conference on Agriculture 2026 as the event is happening at an important time for agri-environmental policy. At EU level, the European Commission’s drafts of the EU budget and CAP post 2027 are being negotiated. The design of the CAP is of central importance as it is a significant funding instrument for environmental protection, climate action and nature conservation. The Conference on Agriculture 2026 will provide key impetus for retaining environmental protection, climate action and nature conservation in the CAP as well as a forum for discussing national implementation in Germany.
Since 2017, the German Environment Ministry's Conferences on Agriculture have offered a platform in the run up to Green Week for current political issues in the conflicting areas of agriculture and environmental protection, nature conservation and climate action. The Conferences on Agriculture address current challenges and promote dialogue between agriculture, environmental associations, politics, the scientific community, industry and civil society. The overarching goal is to establish environmentally and economically sustainable agriculture in Germany and Europe.
Minister Carsten Schneider will open the event and take part in a panel discussion. State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth will give a closing speech.
